i had to travel down to north carolina this weekend to attend the funeral for my grandma, ethel lee mcnair. i really, really don't like funerals (especially open casket- which this was), and tried to avoid going, but in the end, i am incredibly glad that i went. i got to say goodbye to her, and see and catch up with the rest of my family as well. grandma (and grandpa) left behind a great legacy with 12 of their 13 remaining children, 33 grandchildren, ...

i was watching "the view" this morning, and they featured a nice young man named joshua packwood who is the first white valedictorian of morehouse college.
now, i'm very proud of mr. packwood! you can tell he's a very intelligent and put together young man. but the question i couldn't get out of my head during the whole segment was "you mean to tell me that the smartest person in a historically black college is a white person?"
